Deep Sea series

The Deep Sea series of etchings was completed after a residency on the West Coast of Ireland at Cill Railaig. I spent a week on my own, in a little cottage overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, sketching the sea and watching the tiny fishing boats going out and coming back. The prints were all made using a process called sugar lift etching. This is a very painterly and immediate process which I love using. It can be learnt quickly and I run short courses from my studio here.
