This is a ‘ghost print’. The print of a print.

The etching of a copper beech tree was first printed onto handmade leaf paper. The etching plate was then put through the press a second time with a heavy paper. This time the print held the impression of the leaf paper as well as the original image.

These prints have a ghostly atmosphere and rarely work perfectly. This is the largest successful ghost print that we ever achieved. The etching on leaf paper that this was ghosted from, was exhibited and sold at the Royal Academy in 2019.
